A POM (prescription-only medicine) is never supplied or administered until a prescriber has examined the Patient in person and signed a Prescription for them. The law asks for that examination before each prescribing event, so every Prescription is written at a Prescriber Assessment. POM stock with no signed Prescription behind it cannot be used, even a prescriber's own Prescriber Stock.
Start a Prescriber Assessment
You need a current Prescriber Credential. On the Patient's Clinic Patient Record, open Clinical and choose Start a Prescriber Assessment; a Treatment Record for a POM Treatment Type, and a Consult on a Visit Day, link there too. Start records that you are examining the Patient in person. Then:
- Under Medical History, choose Confirm unchanged or Something has changed, with the Patient.
- Fill in Findings, tick Contraindications checked and choose Save findings.
- Choose Write a Prescription for each Treatment Type you prescribe today.
- Choose Sign the Assessment, pick Prescribed or Declined to prescribe (with your reason) and enter your Signing PIN.
Every Prescription written at an Assessment is dated that day, so a draft left from an earlier day cannot be signed: discard it and write it again after a fresh Prescriber Assessment. At an Ordering-only Clinic you record an Attested Assessment instead, signed with its Prescriptions in one PIN entry.
Write and sign the Prescription
In the draft, choose the Administrator and Treatment Type, Add a line for each Product with its quantity, then Save draft. Once the Assessment is signed as prescribed, choose Sign the Prescription and enter your Signing PIN; your Stored Signature is printed on the Prescription. The dialog lists anything still missing. You set the six-digit Signing PIN and your Stored Signature on your Account; five wrong entries lock the PIN for fifteen minutes.
One administrator
Every Prescription names exactly one administrator: you, one Verified Practitioner at the Clinic, or the Patient for a Self-administered Product. Stock dispensed against it arrives as Patient-Dispensed stock, used only for that Patient and only by the administrator it names or the prescriber. Anyone else is warned when they pick it, and their Treatment Record will not sign with it: they need a new Prescription naming them.
Over the Supply Limit
Each line shows how much of its Product Family this Patient has been prescribed at your Clinic within the Supply Limit's window. Going over never stops you signing: you give a reason for each line over the limit, and Acknowledge and sign signs it as a Limit Acknowledgement with your PIN. The Clinic's staff and the Pharmacy desk see it; the Patient never does. If the count moves after signing, Acknowledge now on the line adds one.
Change a signed Prescription
A signed Prescription is never edited. Its prescriber chooses Supersede, then Write the superseding draft: a new draft copying the administrator, Treatment Type and lines, to change and sign. The old one stays on file, lines already ordered stay ordered, and its unordered lines leave the Supply Limit count once the new one is signed. Naming a different administrator, or superseding on a later day than the Assessment, needs a fresh in-person Prescriber Assessment first.
Where Prescriptions wait
Prescriptions in the sidebar (in the Pharmacy workspace for Clinic staff) lists them by where their lines have got to: To order, Awaiting delivery and To administer, with unsigned ones under Drafts and every one under All. Each row offers its next step, such as Sign on your own draft. A Visiting Prescriber sees only their own. Your work on the Home lists your Prescriptions to sign and, for the administrator, the Owner and Managers, any about to lapse with their stock unused.
